What God Has Done, Is Doing, and Will Yet Do to Save His Children.
The incredible story of a God who crossed enemy lines to rescue His children.
Have you ever wondered why Jesus went to such extraordinary lengths to save us? What happened that made our rescue necessary? Why was Jesus willing to give His own life? And what does this tell us about the Father?
Perhaps you've been taught that God loves you, but some things you've heard about Him have made you question that. Maybe some things you have been taught don't seem to fit with the picture of a loving Father at all.
But what if you haven't been given the whole picture? What if the God you've been taught to fear is someone you would dearly love if you really knew Him?
The Bible tells the story of what God has done, is doing, and will yet do to rescue His children from sin and everything sin has done to them.
And through that story, we discover much of what God is really like.
1. God Loved Us First
"We love him, because he first loved us." (1 John 4:19, KJV)
God loved us before we knew Him, before we understood His commandments, and even while we were still sinners.
As we discover how much He loves us and what He has done for us, we begin to understand His character. And the more we know Him, the more reasons we find to love and trust Him.
2. Before Our World: A Conflict Over God's Character
Long before our world existed, God created a perfect universe where His creatures lived in happiness and loving fellowship with Him.
Among them was Lucifer, a magnificent angel who held an honored position in God's presence. But pride developed within him, and he began questioning God's character and authority.
His rebellion spread to other angels, and war broke out in heaven.
At the heart of this conflict was a question that would eventually affect the entire universe:
Could God really be trusted?
3. A Perfect Earth—and the First Human Choice
God created our earth perfect and gave Adam and Eve everything necessary for happiness.
But Satan persuaded them to distrust their Creator. Their disobedience brought fear, suffering, and death into our world.
And when they became afraid and hid from God, something remarkable happened.
God came looking for them.
4. Jesus Came to Show Us the Father—and Save Us
The Father and Son were united in their love for humanity.
Jesus willingly came into our world to reveal what His Father is really like. He healed the sick, welcomed children, comforted the sorrowful, and forgave His enemies.
Then He willingly gave His life so that we could live.
His life and death revealed God's love more clearly than anything else in the history of the universe.
5. What Jesus Is Doing Now—and Why It Matters
Jesus rose from the dead and returned to heaven, where He continues working for our salvation as our High Priest and Advocate.
Before He returns to earth to gather His children, the Bible describes a judgment in heaven.
God already knows every heart, but the judgment allows the watching heavenly universe to understand His decisions and see that He has been perfectly just and merciful.
And Jesus, the One who gave His life for us, is our Advocate.
6. Jesus Returns, and Every Question Is Answered
Jesus promised to return and take His people to live with Him. This event is called the Second Coming.
During the thousand years that follow, the redeemed will participate in reviewing God's decisions.
After the thousand years, even those who rejected His rescue will recognize that He has been fair and just.
Then sin, Satan, and death will be destroyed forever.
7. God Makes All Things New
God will recreate this earth.
Suffering, sorrow, and death will be gone forever.
And perhaps the most wonderful part of the entire story is that God chooses to live here with the children He rescued.

Jesus rose from the dead and returned to heaven, where He continues working for our salvation. As our High Priest, He works on our behalf, and as our Advocate, He represents us in the heavenly judgment.
Before Jesus returns to earth to gather His children, the Bible describes a judgment taking place in heaven.
God already knows every heart and every decision we have made. He doesn't need to examine the records to discover whom to save. But the heavenly beings who have watched the conflict between good and evil need to understand His decisions.
And so the records of those who have professed to belong to God are opened first (1 Peter 4:17). The heavenly beings are allowed to examine how God has dealt with each person, the opportunities He gave them, and how they responded to His love. They can see for themselves that He has been perfectly fair, loving, and merciful.
And remember, the One who represents us before the Father, is Jesus Himself—the very One who loved us enough to give His life for us.
